The US Commercial Construction Boom

The industry reports positive news about the construction industry. McGraw Hill Construction found that new construction starts were up 10% in September, the highest level of construction activity so far in 2014; and in the first nine months of the year construction starts were up 5% from last year. Most of this increase is due to the rise of nonresidential building activity that totaled a $228.5 billion annual rate.

Additionally, as 2014 seems to be a good year for construction, the prospects for 2015 also look good. According to Dodge Data & Analytics, construction starts in 2015 are expected to increase up to 9% from 2014, again due mostly to the commercial construction sector, with an increase expected in office building, educational facilities, and retail construction projects.
