Latest Plastics in Packaging: Pricing on the Rise

Resin companies, (Dow, Exxon-Mobil, Chevron) announced $.05/lb. increase set to take effect on May 1, 2015 on linear low density polyethylene (lldpe) and low density polyethylene (ldpe). Stretch film, bag, film and sheet converters have already announced a 7% increase to become effective end of May on all lldpe and ldpe products. This ends the slide that began back in the 4th quarter of 2014.

Inventories are slim because of the sliding prices and the influx of orders prior to the price increase is pushing lead times out on many polyethylene products.

New technology in stretch film and polyethylene bags and sheet provides thinner but stronger products:

v Stretch wrap. Reduce your cost per pallet wrapped with the latest stretch film technology.

Ø  Nexus and Stratos Machine Films-Ultra high performance cast machine films.

  •     One side cling
  •     Tough Puncture/Tear Resistance
  •     Excellent force to load

v Bags, Film and Sheet. Elasticene technology is remarkably strong and high tensile even at lower gauges.

Ø  Reduce your cost without sacrificing performance

Ø  Environmentally friendly by reducing overall material
